Diitalk

Marketing & Design Director

Diitalk is a VoIP calling and OTT messaging application built around internal currency and user reward model. Diitalk is the first and the only service to offer free dialled (landline & mobile) telephone calling in any country with or without Internet. Diitalk Communications Inc. developed VoIP calling technology well before Skype or Whatsapp had hit the market. 

OUR CHALLENGE

Get as many users as possible with a $34K marketing budget.

Project goals

When the company developed VoIP calling technology before Skype hit the market, they were facilitating B2B businesses. They saw an opportunity in B2C business and developed their first app "Dingaling". I was initially hired as Marketing Coordinator to assist Marketing Director, later promoted to Marketing & Design Director. 

Our job was to turn Dingaling into a strong brand and acquire as many users as possible with a small marketing budget of $34,000 CAD.

Results

  • Assisted Marketing Director in acquiring 2M+ users over a 4-month period, with a total advertisement spend of $34K. Achieved a customer acquisition cost of approx. $0.025CAD & more than 2500% user growth in 200+ countries, year-on-year.

  • Managed company’s social media pages. Helped build a Facebook following of more than 275,000 people within the same $34K budget.

  • Instrumental in company rebranding from “Dingaling” to “Diitalk”. Project included a UI/UX overhaul, branding revisions and a design overhaul, resulting in close to 2x more organic reach.

  • Managed 20+ design projects with designers from around the world simultaneously.

  • Attended advertisement conferences and assisted management with app monetization strategy.  

  • Designed layouts, interactions and transitions for all mobile screen sizes and device orientations. 
 

  • Contributed to all UI design decisions and the creation of visually stimulating and delightful designs such as customer reward achievement screens to increase user engagement. 

  • Created mockups and UX plans to communicate desired application flow and user interactions to engineers.

  • Conducted software testing, identified areas in-need of development & coordinated with developers to remove bugs.
